Newton Aycliffe Youth U9 Eagles travelled to Shildon for what was expected to be a tough game for the boys.
Before kick off the boys paid their respects with a perfectly observed minutes silence.
The game started with Shildon dominating the first half. We had to defend really well to keep Shildon out. Dylan, Nathan and Jayden battling hard in defence with Evan and James working their socks off. Unfortunately Shildon took the lead with a well taken goal. Carter made an unbelievable save to keep us in the game, and at half time Shildon led.
Second half and a couple of changes plus a change in formation made a big difference to the game, we attacked more and created more chances.
After Daniel missed a great chance to level the game it was the other Dan who brought the game level with probably our best goal of the season, after he scored a sweet left foot volley from the edge of the box.
The game was end to end and after a few missed opportunities it was Shildon who ended up victorious. A disappointing result on the score sheet but the effort and application was top notch.
MOM, Dylan, for probably his best performance of the season in defence.
Second game was an end to end encounter with some really good performances. Shildon got the win but again the improvement was there for all to see.
We are battling really hard and improving as a team every week. MOM, second game, was Riley, for all his hard work and good teamwork.
