Newton Aycliffe U9 Eagles played Greatham Whites and came out on top in an end to end game. Both teams started well and both keepers were forced into early saves. Greatham took an early lead but the Eagles levelled the score when Jayden fired a shot into the top bin. Aycliffe took control of the game and worked some really good opportunities to put them ahead. A good battling performance making 2 wins out of 2 for the season.

Durham Utd Tigers 1 – 9 NAYFC U12 Falcons

The score line opened after a missed penalty resulted in a follow up ball, with a tap in off Issac. The lads seemed to be pressing well but couldn’t seem to score, hitting the post, cross bar and getting cleared off the line several times. You could see their frustration when Durham equalised. At HT Falcons were winning 3-1 and following a half time talks, they came out on fire; passing the ball, moving, receiving and creating some great openings. Issac and Moore doing some lovely one twos and some great running down the left of Will who was always a threat. Our defence was solid with Leo, Fin and Tyler. Great all round performance. Goals: Will 5, Moore 2, Issac 1, Logan 1.

Aycliffe Angels had a run of games today, with the U9 Angels and U10 Angels Yellow having to amend their plans due to oppositions turning up with only 5 players. To ensure fair play, and in the spirit of grassroots, we matched their opposition numbers and despite a rocky start (having never played 5-a-side) the girls settled into their games with energy, hard work and smiles. A win came for U9 Angels against Thornaby Town. The best game yet for the Yellows led to a well contested loss against CLS Amazon Avengers, along with a goal from new Angel Amy. The U10 Angels Blue took a convincing win against newly formed Stockton Town and played with spirit, control and respect.
