Newton Aycliffe Women 3
Washington Ladies 1
With Aycliffe 3rd and Washington second bottom, on paper this should have been an easy match, but that’s not how it played out. Newton Aycliffe found themselves one nil down in the first 5 minutes after Washington forced a corner, whipped the ball in close to the keeper who parried onto the cross bar – Washington were quickest to react to the second ball and a goal. Newton Aycliffe were struggling to keep the ball and Washington were looking dangerous on the break. Substitution made, Vicky came on to settle down the midfield and this payed off immediately when she received the ball and played a perfect pass through the Washington defence for Katie to run onto. Katie still had it all to do and finished calmly taking the score to 1-1. Newton Aycliffe were now growing into the game but Washington always looked threatening on the break. Second half Newton Aycliffe looked a different team, and the hard work soon payed off when a good passing move was finished by Christie : 2-1. Lots of chances came Newton Aycliffe’s way but the third goal looked like it wasn’t going to come . . . then in the 73rd minute, Naomi popped up in the right place to finish off another good attacking move leaving the score 3-1. Another 3 points and the team is heading in the right direction – a tougher test next week against Coxhoe for the final game of 2018.
Newton Aycliffe Women would like to thank Honest John, as for many seasons he has supported our Girls’ team and has now moved on to support the town’s new Women’s team. His generous donation of £500 helped the team to buy their fantastic away strip. Huge thanks from Manager, Helen Clark and the team. Merry Christmas Honest John from everyone you’ve ever supported – our very own Santa!

Hetton Juniors Roma 1
Team today Trystan, Ollie, Kai, Adam, Will, Kaiden and Jayden.
Cannot fault these boys today – they were all outstanding in very difficult conditions and deserved a draw with shots being saved or just wide. Trystan did fantastically in goal yet again and with only 7 players everyone had to work their socks off for the full match. The match performance shows how much the boys have improved lately and the coaches are loving the effort and attitude from them. They all did really well today, with MOTM going to Will – an often over looked position but who is consistently a key player with bags of talent and enthusiasm, linking up with his team mates and applying loads of pressure. Unlucky not to get a goal today Will, but well done on MOTM. Keep your heads held high Eagles, the performances are more important than the results and the goals will come if you continue to play as well as you have been.

NAYFC U12 Girls 9
The girls were really excited to play in a real stadium with “posh seats and everything” only to find out that was Durham County cricket ground and they had to walk past it to our pitch!
It was lovely to have Elena back today after injury and the girls worked well as a team to integrate her back into matches. We spent most of the match camped out in the opposition half, with our defenders Ella, Piper and Alisha stood like spectators on the half way line (it’s not often our keeper Keira gets bored), but this time it resulted in goals!!! Balls were played from defence, to midfield, to strikers with some moments of lovely passing play. We were soon ahead as Enya turned into a goal scoring machine. Not to be out done, Daniella was popping them in too. Lily and Eden worked hard in midfield with Abbie. We changed the team round at half time putting our striker in defence, allowing players to try different positions (our defender Piper scored a goal) and mindful how our opposition must be feeling (we too have been beaten by big margins). Well done to all the girls and we see Chester again at home next week.
