Mount Pleasant 1-12 Newton Aycliffe Youth U8’s Falcons

The Falcons ran riot in their last match of 17/18 season. Great passing and finishing all around to set up the summer tournaments starting with Haggerstone Castle next weekend.

Newton Aycliffe Youth Falcons U11s 2 – 1 Tibs Yellow

Last game of the season and it was a must win game against a team who could catch us in the league should they win their remaining games in hand.

The first half was a nervy and scrappy start from both teams. Neither team took a good grip of the game and several half chances came and went. However just before half time we unfortunately conceded when a corner was deflected in off one of our player’s heads when trying to clear.

Half time came and a good chance to regroup. The message was to get the basics right and play with a better tempo and confidence in ourselves. The game and attitude changed and within minutes we had started to force Tibs into several errors in defence. The equaliser came when the striker chased a lost cause and won the ball from the goal keeper, after a bit of a scramble the ball was slotted calmly into the bottom corner from the edge of the box by Reece Smith. It was only a matter of time until another goal came and it was a great relief when we took the lead through Dylan Stewart.

The match then got a bit scrappy again and we were able to see the game out to win our final match of the season. Now we wait for Leven Athletic and Tibs Yellow to play their final games. We need both teams to drop points to allow us to finish second. We have done all we can now and are keeping our fingers crossed.

Goal scorers Reece Smith and Dylan Stewart. Man of the match, Reece Smith.
