Newton Aycliffe Youth U9 Wildcats v Hartlepool Blues

There was no time to stop and think from the moment the whistle blew. The game kicked off on a freezing pitch but the game was anything but cold! Wildcats jumped into action with Demi-Lee and Faith showing fast passing, solid defending from Freya and Safiye and strong pushes forward from Thea and Tilly.

Wildcats maintained most of the possession and despite the sun being directly in our keeper Lana’s way, she made some great saves. The first half was without score, but not for the lack of trying with the whole team putting pressure on Hartlepool and showing fantastic teamwork.

The second half saw Hartlepool regroup, and Erin and Anna had to defend hard during the first 10 minutes. Wildcats pushed back and the whole team were involved in some great passing – showing their vastly improved teamwork and skill.

The team played the best they’ve played and it was a no score draw against the third team in the league. Wildcats finished bottom third of the table which is great for their first season – they should be very proud of how far they’ve come and how hard they’ve worked. Man of the Match – not one but ALL players deserved this accolade today. Total commitment and team spirit throughout.

Gateshead U10’s 4 – 3 Newton Aycliffe Youth U10’s

Great game of football on a very frosty morning. Some great passing and teamwork saw us take a half time lead of 2-1 with goals from Alex Bellwood and Will Houlahan. Alex Lister and Finley Garner both stepped in and played really well. Second half we continued to play some great football but couldn’t finish. Losing strikers Alex Bellwood and Jake Laheney Clark who were unwell we just couldn’t finish and went behind 4-2.

Still we pushed forward and managed to get one back through Harry Tallentire. Final score 3-4. Man of the match this week was Kai Thompson who never put a foot wrong. Well done also to Will, Isaac Jude and rest of the team who played some great football.

Newton Aycliffe Youth U11 Falcons 3 – 1 Leven AFC Whites

We faced Leven Whites at the Oakleaf and with a lot of players missing only managed to field 8 players. The game was very scrappy throughout and in the first half we had several chances to take the lead but the half finished 0-0.

Second half got off to a bad start and straightaway we found ourselves a goal behind.

The players showed good spirit and determination to come from behind scoring 3 goals within 5 minutes to win the match 3-1.

Today was a good test for the team only playing with 8 players and they did us all proud. Goal scorers – Reece Smith, Louis Parnaby and Ethan Tate.
