This weekend saw all of our young footballers paying their respect to the service men and women who lost their lives defending our country. In what can be an emotional spectacle it, the minutes silence was impeccably adhered to by all. U10 Falcons 5 v 1 Hartlepool St Francis. The Falcons started the game well today, passing was great but their chances weren’t getting put away. It wasn’t going to be a day of missed opportunities was it? No – the Falcons eventually scored on the 10 min mark and thought they could go on now but that wasn’t the case. Hartlepool came back and equalised before half time. Aycliffe knew they had a good chance of winning the game. In the 2nd half Aycliffe were class. Once they got the 2nd that was it and they kept scoring. Brilliant team work. Goal scorers were Aiden Lee Peacock, Cole Gaskarth and Dylan Stewart getting a hatrick and also earned him MOTM but shared with Alex Beattie who had a great game in defence cleaning everything up at the back. Shincliffe Girls 0 v 5 U12’s Girls. Early start for the girls today as they travelled to Ferryhill on a foggy and cold morning, but at least the rain stopped. The girls started with pace and movement and with just over a minute gone, Hattie crossed for Olivia to prod home. Aycliffe then give the opposition no space and forced several corners , from which Hattie crossed for Alex to volley home and 5 mins later a poor clearance found Laila on the edge of the box to slot into the corner. HT 0-3. To be fair to Shincliffe they came out stronger in the second half and stretched Aycliffe on a few occasions but a clean sheet was important today for Faith, Macy, Emily and Neve. However at the other end U12’s Girls were still creating chances and from a hand ball, Hattie smashed home the penalty. The final word went to Alex who raced beyond the defence and slid the ball inside the post FT 0-5 The rest of the squad deserve a mention today Chloe Lauren helping out in defence and Brookes pace out on the wing and Kate’s work in midfield helped the girls to this impressive win. U12s Stockton Town Yellows 3 – 4 Aycliffe Youth Eagles Under 12s Eagles were on league duty today in Division 1 away to Stockton Town Yellows. Aycliffe started on the front foot and were soon 1.0 up after Brennan Fitzpatrick headed home a corner from Jack Clarkson. Aycliffe carried on battling hard and were rewarded when Brennan Fitzpatrick added another to make it 2.0. By now Aycliffe were in full control and worked hard to win every ball, then played good passing football. Aycliffe scored a 3rd with a through ball from Brennan to Brandon Addy who raced toward the goal & slotted home. A 4th was soon added with a weaving run from Jack Clarkson and getting himself on the score sheet. This first half was a display of no nonsense football using the basics very well. Louis Airey, Kieran Walton, Alfie Backhouse backed by keeper Charlie Harrison gave a solid platform for the team to build on. Callum Whitfield, Leon Patel & James Sear supported the front men and the wing backs. Unfortunately this was a game of 2 halves and to Stockton’s credit they battled hard. This was helped by Aycliffe’s lack of urgency or taking the foot off the pedal which let Stockton back in. Before Aycliffe knew it the score was 3.4. To their credit Aycliffe battled hard for the last 5 minutes and looked the more likely to score. Well done lads for a good result. U13’s Falcons 5-2 Barnard Castle Perfect conditions for the lads today at the Oak Leaf, The Falcons started very well testing the keeper early with a long range effort from Dylan. Sam, also going close with a nice volley. The first goal came from a through pass from Will which Sam outpaced the defenders to finish past the keeper 1-0. The 2nd goal came from good work by Tom Jasper to feed Lewis who finished very well 2-0. The best move of the game did not result in a goal but some lovely quick passing saw Aycliffe move up the pitch quickly and create another chance. The falcons had a penalty saved just before half time 2-0. 2nd Half, Barnard Castle came out fired up and scored from a header close in, 2-1. The Falcons had to match the extra effort and physicality of the visitors to get back on top again, the 3rd goal came from a pass from Will that Sam tucked away with his usual class 3-1. Barnard Castle threatened again but for a fine double save from Cam when it looked like they were going to score. The fourth goal came when Sam was forced wide and under pressure he delivered a cross to the back post that went in 4-1. The visitors pulled another one back 4-2. The final goal of the game saw Jacob play a pass across for Dylan to hit first time powerfully into the corner, full time 5-2. MOTM went to Ethan for a solid game in a few positions.
