Under 8 Eagles v Lambton Lions Great game in freezing conditions at Farringdon. The Eagles had battle on their hands throughout the first half with not many chances for either side but some great midfield play. HT 0-0. Second half started with Kai making way for Faith and Nathan coming off for Adam. The Eagles were pushing hard for a goal early in the second half and eventually they got the break through with a great goal from Will. Several accurate free kicks were creating chances but they just couldn’t find the second goal. Edwin coming very close on a couple of occasion from some very direct runs. As the final whistle drew closer Edwin put in a fantastic corner with lots of movement in the box Adam was able to slot home FT 2-0
Under 11’s v Greatham Aycliffe started strong on a sticky pitch and went ahead with a lovely strike from Charlie. The lads played some great football and passed the ball well and a great assist from Jake, ended in Isaac making it 2–0. However Aycliffe switched off and let Greatham back into the game, and it was soon 2-2, Then a flurry of goals heading to half time gave a score of 4-3 to Greatham. Half time talk and a couple of changes with Finn coming on and Thomas making his debut, Aycliffe got it back to 4-4 with Charlie completing his hat trick. The lads then stepped up a gear and really looked the part, playing some lovely unselfish football and took the lead with a superb effort from Charlie and great support from midfield. The defence were then put under enormous pressure but solid work from Isaac and goalkeeping from William kept Aycliffe in the game. Then a quick break enabled Isaac to score a fine goal. The lads worked hard to keep possession and with Matty running his socks off and battling for every ball, he put in through ball, which Isaac put away. Game and points secured FT 7-4 Goals: Charlie 4, Isaac 3 MoM: Thomas
U13’s Eagles v Stockton West End What a fantastic team performance from the Eagles with every player working hard and attacking from the start. Goals from Jack Fleming and Luke Minnikin but the lads were so unlucky not to get a couple more. It was very difficult to pick a man of the match as this was a great team performance. However it went to Joey Howarth for keeping the opposition centre forward quiet for the majority of the game and an all round solid display. FT 2.1
Under 15 Girls v Lumley A great performance from the girls as they came straight out of the blocks, passing the ball around and working for each other. They got their reward with a superb goal from Lydia HT 1-0. This made the half time team talk easier and the girls were asked just to continue where they left off. The 2nd got underway as they passed and tackled and Aycliffe soon got their 2nd goal from Becky. Lumley then hit the post and started pushing forward. Eventually they got their reward and grabbed a goal back. Aycliffe then made a couple of changes and started to dominate again, a great cross from Katie B and Lydia slots passed the keeper for her 2nd. The girls then controlled the rest off the game to take the 3 pts from a tough away game FT 3-1
