Two students from King James I Academy have been selected from over 5,000 entrants to have their poetry published as part of the nationally recognised Young Writers Competition.
Tamzin Iley in Year 7 and Cody Mather in Year 9 entered the competition in the Academy’s after school Creative Writing group, which is run by their English Teacher, Miss Gowland. The group gives students the opportunity to develop their creative writing skills, share their work with other aspiring writers and take part in national competitions such as this. The girls were selected by judges in the competition for their poetry under the theme of empowerment and as a result, both will have their poems published and join the shortlist which will lead to the announcement of overall competition winners.
Miss Gowland said, “I am so proud of these students. They are both amazing young writers and I am so happy that they have been recognised for their talent.”
