Shane Hutchinson came to Newton Aycliffe six years ago and began studying catering at Bishop Auckland College where he achieved Levels 1,2 and 3.
He recently joined the Princes Trust which organises placements and work experience with the prospect of being offered full time work.
For the next two weeks Shane will be volunteering his services to The Cubby and given free rein to present his own menu including cakes and desserts.
