If you passed your driving test on or after 1st January 1997 you will not hold an entitlement to tow a trailer or caravan weighing over 750Kg. If you are one of the many drivers who are not aware of this change in licence category, and are towing, you may be breaking the law. This could result in you receiving a fine, points on your licence and the likelyhood of your insurance being void.
Jack’s Driving School at Aycliffe are finding many people have been towing a caravan, horse box or even towing at work sometimes for years, unaware that they have been doing anything wrong.
To upgrade your licence to enable you to tow legally you must sit a driving test. The B+E category is an hour long test which includes a reverse manoeuvre, coupling and uncoupling a loaded trailer, and an extensive drive possibly including motorway and dual carriageway driving. You will also have to answer and demonstrate 5 questions on vehicle safety checks.
Jack’s Driving School instructors are all highly trained, high grade instructors who have extensive knowledge in not only trailer training but all other forms of driver tuition. We are all fleet trained and have attended several courses to improve our instruction skills.
If you would like to further information on how to tow a trailer, or are interested in any of the services we offer please call Jack 07949195184
