The PCP and The Cornforth Partnership are offering residents of Newton Aycliffe and Middridge the opportunity of receiving free short term flexible support through their new Buddies Befriending Service.
Buddies Befriending Service is funded through the Great Aycliffe and Middridge Area Action Partnership (GAMP) and it aims to help reduce loneliness and isolation in the over 50s by matching them up with a friendly befriender for company and support.
The type of support that you can receive from a Buddy can vary but it can include support to access community activities and social groups as well as providing practical support such as assistance with grocery shopping. Support could simply be taking time to listen over a cup of tea.
If you are interested in having a buddy or if you know someone who would benefit from the service, please contact the project team on 01325 329933 or email: buddies@pcp.uk.net. Visit: www.pcp.uk.net or www.cornforthpartnership.co.uk
Or, if you know your local community and would like to become a volunteer buddy, a full training and support package is provided by PCP. Volunteers are required to be able to give a minimum of 2 hours a week. Get in touch for further information.
