4th January saw the Open Day for the new Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Central Avenue, that will be shared by the Newton Aycliffe and Ferryhill congregations. This modern bespoke Kingdom Hall paves the way for the sale of the old property at the rear of Alington Road in the town.
Approximately 500 people came from far and wide to see this simple but functional and attractive modern building. The doors opened at 10am and by 11am the hall was packed with visitors. Many commented how impressed they were with not only the finish but the style and layout of the building.
Some of the visitors were family and friends of those who attend this Kingdom Hall, while others were volunteers who had worked voluntarily on the 20 week project and travelled many miles to see the finished hall. Quite a few members of the community including local councillors also popped in and enjoyed tea and coffee whilst having a guided tour. All were most welcome.
As Jehovah’s Witnesses the main function of the Kingdom Hall is for the worship of our God, Jehovah, but also to aid individuals and families to live happy productive lives within the local community. To this end weekly meetings take place that deal with family life and Christian living based around our bible education work.
Public meetings are held at 10am and 1pm on Sundays. The hall will also be used occasionally for wedding and funeral services of congregation members.
Furthermore the main event of the year will be held on 7th April 2020, for the memorial of Jesus death.
Any who wish to come along, are most welcome and any questions asked will be answered.
