During February half-term, Bewick Crescent Surgery hosted work experience students from Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College and Durham Sixth Form College. As the students are all considering a career in medicine their experience included shadowing the administrative and clinical teams, and they were also able to observe some patient consultations.
Dr. Ruth Lund (GP Partner, pictured) said: “As a training practice we are keen to help the next generation of trainee GPs to qualify, and with the national shortage of GPs it is important that we encourage students into the profession as early as possible.
The Partners are grateful to all our staff who host these students, and particularly appreciate the help given by our patients who allow the students to sit in during their consultations.”
Applications for the February 2021 experience will be accepted from December 2020.
Sixth form students can apply through the Queen Elizabeth Work Experience team, or by letter of application direct to the Practice Manager.
