The whole of Year 7 recently took part in a Specialist Day to learn and develop their knowledge of and understanding of STEM. STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics are key subjects that students study during their time at Woodham. Students completed multiple STEM activities during the day. From scratch, they developed and manufactured air fresheners, creating both the scented gel and the casing to house the product. Students then spent the remaining time manufacturing a land yacht. This task allowed them to develop both their team work skills and also their specific STEM skills within one project. They then raced the yachts in competition with all other students from the year group. This was a valuable experience allowing the teams to bring together skills from a range of different subjects and combine them as they would do in the working world.
