hroughout the months of April and May staff from Woodham Academy’s Art department have been visiting local primary schools to deliver a number of art sessions to year 4 students. This has been to give the students a taste of the type of work that they could produce using the specialist Art facilities at secondary school. The students have gained experience in the use of clay and of colour blending with paint and pencil.
The work that has been produced will take the form of a large ceramic tree design which will be on permanent display at Woodham Academy. The ‘Friendship Tree’ will be available for viewing from 3.30 on the 12th of July to coincide with the Art exhibition of this year’s Art GCSE students. Students and parents from the schools involved; Chilton, Heighington, St Mary’s, Sugar Hill and St Francis have been invited to attend the unveiling of the tree and observe how their own individual ceramic leaf helps to make up the tree as a whole.
