In the Summer Term, Year 1 children from Woodham Burn Community Primary School took part in a competition with Young Writers. This is a National competition and their task was to create their own riddles. The riddles were fantastic and captured the creativity of these young writers during their poetry topic. We were delighted to find that 13 of the Riddles are to be published in a book alongside other poets aged 5-7.
Mrs Barry, their class teacher last year, is extremely proud of the achievements of all children who took part. She explained that, ‘the children worked extremely hard last year with their writing, developing their creative writing skills which was evident in the success of all of our children’.
We celebrated their achievements in a whole school assembly where parents, staff and pupils shared in this wonderful achievement. Mrs Edwards, the Head Teacher, praised all children now in Year 2 and looks forward to seeing their fantastic writing develop further as they progress through the school.
