Local girl Zoe Barnett hit the high note on Saturday when she played violin to a sell out audience at The Sage in Gateshead. Zoe is one of many County Durham talented musicians selected by the Durham Music Service to play in the County Durham Youth Orchestra.
Zoe has been playing violin – a snazzy purple number – for several years, with lessons via the Durham Schools service who come into schools during the week, also playing on a Thursday evening at rehearsals based at Greenfield School.
The full orchestra played at Christmas time with the sound track to The Snowman at Ushaw College and at The Excel Centre.
The Sage is a much bigger venue and the orchestra played a number of pieces with sessions from other smaller bands during the performance too.
