Basketballers in Year 8 at Woodham Academy once again led the way in the Bishop Auckland District competition last week. Following in a long line of successful basketball teams from Woodham, the Year 8 team proved they were more than ready to follow in the footsteps of their much decorated predecessors.
Woodham Academy Deputy Headteacher and lead coach of the school’s Basketball Academy programme Danny Morgans said, “The team performed admirably winning all of their games and showed developed skills often far superior to those of their opposition. I am really excited about the potential this team has. Winning the competition is just reward for the hard word and dedication the students are putting into their training on a weekly basis.”
Mr Morgans continues to play a leading role in the development of junior basketball in the region with Woodham Academy providing more players to the Durham Wildcats’ junior programme and North East region team than any other.
