Team members at the Wilkinson store in Newton Aycliffe, are offering a helping hand to community groups and charities in the area who need extra support with local projects.

Whether the project benefits young people, families or the elderly, Wilkinsons is inviting anyone who is passionate about their local community to get involved and apply for a donation.

People living in the Newton Aycliffe area will be able to apply to the store for a donation of Wilkinsons’ products or team members to volunteer their time, as they are also keen to roll up their sleeves to support neighbourhood developments.

Barbara Tennick, manager said: “The Helping Hands scheme is an initiative where funding is provided to support local projects, directly benefitting the lives of people who live and work close to the store.

“As a company, it’s great to be able to help community groups and charities by giving something back to the area, whether it’s seeds to help a community garden bloom or paint for a local animal shelter, we are able to help.”

Application forms can be collected from the store and once completed, returned to the store’s help desk. Successful applicants will be notified within three months of submission.
