Dear Sir,

As you all know, this Covid-19 virus has been going on for some time now, with no one knowing when it will end.

I am sending a plea out on behalf of all residents (and staff) in all our Care and Nursing Homes on the town. My local church has been in close contact for many months, and has brought a little light into their lives. I am now asking if there is any person reading this, if you would like to form a Friendship Group. This would entail keeping in touch with those who have no family at all, in our care homes.

You can either write a letter, send a card, just to say you are thinking of someone. The home will make sure they are given out. You can put your address on if you would like an answer, or just to keep in touch with the person who has been “chosen” for you.

This helps those feeling lonely and vulnerable in many ways by helping with their mental health, making them feel they are thought about, and generally letting them know how much our town cares for them. If you would like to put some general snippets of information in about yourself and your family, this too will be appreciated.

Our Nursing Homes addresses are as follows:

Rose Lodge Nursing Home, Cobbler’s Hall, Newton Aycliffe

Defoe Court, Defoe Crescent, Newton Aycliffe

St. Clare’s Court, Central Avenue, Newton Aycliffe

Woodham Grange, Special Needs, Burn Lane, Newton Aycliffe

Aycliffe Home, Burnhope, Newton Aycliffe

Lindisfarne Nursing Home, Silverdale Place, Newton Aycliffe

Bethany Nursing Home,Village Close, Newton Aycliffe.

Many thanks for even thinking about this effort for all our town’s residents in Care and Nursing Homes, and please remember all the staff for the amazing effort they have all put in.

Pam Lovelass
