This summer PCP has something for everyone to help you make the most out of the school holidays at the Pioneering Care Centre in Newton Aycliffe. Join us this August to get fit or learn a new skill by booking your place on one of the following courses!
Glass and Ceramic Painting
If you’re looking for something to entertain the children during the summer holidays, try something new with this glass and ceramic painting class, Thursday 15th August, 9.30 – 12.30pm. Families will enjoy working together to learn how to upcycle glass and unused ceramic pieces whilst designing and creating your own work! This colourful, fun filled session is FREE to anyone in receipt of a means tested benefit, or £7.50 per family.
Mixed Craft Session
This family learning course allows you to get creative with a range of materials such as rock and pebble painting and printing with found objects! Take home your masterpieces and develop your artistic and team building skills. Running Thursday, 8th August from 13.00 – 16.00, this course is FREE to anyone in receipt of a means tested benefit, or £7.50 per family.
Knit and Natter
Do you like knitting? PCP are trying to start a new social group, on Thursday’s from 14.00 – 16.00. Knit and Knatter in a relaxed and friendly setting, PCP’s Coffee Shop, Garden Kitchen. The free group aims to bring people together and create wonderful knitting!
Growing Gurus
This 4 week class is for children aged 5-11 and explores ways to become more relaxed and build a positive mind-set in our busy world. Children will learn techniques to help reduce stress and improve overall wellbeing through activities which include breathing, guided visualisation, yoga poses and lots of fun games! Each session is £6 and will begin Friday 9th August from 10.00 – 11.00 am.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MCBT)
Starting Thursday 5th September. MCBT helps to break habits of the mind that can be difficult to manage, and encourages you to see situations in a positive light. Simple meditation can help you be kinder to yourself and more responsive to problems.
Computers for the Terrified
Starting Wednesday 11th September. Overcome your fears on this practical course aimed at adults 19 and above who are total beginners and who have never used a computer before. You will gain a basic knowledge of how to get online and search the internet and increase your confidence of using IT.
Mixed Crafts
Starting Wednesday 11th September. Learn a range of craft techniques including paper crafts (making cards and gift wrap), glass and ceramic painting, marbling techniques and much more! Create beautiful pieces of art work to take home and develop artistic skills in a relaxing, creative session.
Sewing on a Budget
Starting Thursday 12th September. Learn basic skills such as hemming, hand stitch and appliqué stitch before learning new techniques in embroidery. Create a simple running stitch and pin together a collection of your own work! Take home unique fabric bunting and cushions or your own tote bag.
Introductions to Counselling & Listening Skills
Starting Monday 30th September. By undertaking this class you will gain awareness of what counselling is and the basic principles of person centred counselling. Get to know the three main core conditions in counselling skills and an insight into the necessary personal qualities in the career as well as an awareness of safety, boundaries and ethics in skills.
