The Community Regeneration Team from livin recently secured a grant from Durham County Council to plant 49 native holly trees to enhance the woodland walk in the Western Area of Newton Aycliffe as part of the National Tree Week Campaign.

Supporting this initiative were local Community Champions, Ron Mitchie and Cllr Arun Chandran, Emily Hunter from PCP and Michael Fishwick from livin. They worked alongside Durham County Council’s Civic Pride and the Clean and Green Team, taking part in the planting, along with a litterpick and tidy up around Silverdale Place.

Consultation on the proposals for regeneration in the Western Area is ongoing and further drop in sessions on the estate are planned over the spring.
