Sedgefield Water Polo Club based at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre travelled to Eckington for the City of Sheffield Under 13 Tournament. Sedgefield sent two teams, one for the deep end tournament and a young team for the shallow end tournament.
Sedgefield dominated the deep end tournament winning all 4 of their group games, then defeating the home team Sheffield 6-1 in the semi final. In the final once again at this age Sedgefield were up against Rotherham and again Sedgefield’s tight defence and swift counter attack play took them to victory 5-2.
In the younger one’s tournament they won all 4 group games but lost controversially in the semi final 3-2 to Tyldsley from Manchester, but they clinched third place with a 4-1 win against Royton from Manchester.
The Sedgefield squad was Jake and Isaac Mendelson Mendelson, Haydn Craggs, Niall Coulthard, Kate Harrison, Daniel Millington, Hollie Turnbull, Crystal Elliot, Jessica Webb, Katy Fenton, Kes and Charlie Mcewan, Ben and Kyle Alderson, Joseph and Isaac Boys, Bartosz Czajczynska and Mathew Taylor.
