The grand opening of Walworth Castle’s  outdoor ceremony area, “Lady Palmer’s Pavilion” took place on Wednesday 17th May. Rachel and Chris Swain have owned the Castle since 2000, and are very passionate about bringing the castle back to its former glory and in chatting to wedding couples discovered there is a huge interest for outdoor weddings. Walworth decided to create a wedding day that couples dream of so a special pavilion has been built. It is named after Lady Palmer who owned Walworth Castle up until 1935 as a private residence. With the castle’s rich history, and one of the few Grade 1 listed buildings in the area the owners felt like this new facility was one to celebrate.

They welcomed approximately 100 guests to the opening with glasses of fizz and afternoon tea whilst watching the Mayor, Councillor Brian Jones cut the ribbon to mark the opening. Entertainment for our guests was live band “Last Anthem Unplugged” who played throughout the evening from the new Pavilion. Our beautiful function rooms were styled and tastefully decorated on the evening by Lisa Charles with Flowers provided by Nattrass. Lady Palmer’s was decorated by Mandy of Perfectly You Events. Two photographers were present Jane from Camera A and Claire Hirst (see photos) The first wedding in Lady Palmer’s is due to take place at the end of May. The castle  has weddings booked up until the end of 2019, but still have a number of dates available and they would be delighted to hear from anybody who is looking for a wedding venue.
