Karon Woodfine and Neil Coates both 51 from Newton Aycliffe would love to win a dream wedding!
Neil says: “Karon and I grew up in Newton Aycliffe and have known each other since we were 16 years old. I loved Karon from the moment we met, I asked her out four times but each time she said no! I was heart broken.”
They went on to live separate lives, Neil joined the army and moved to Canada. Karon never married but had two serious relationships. After 22 years in Canada, Neil returned to England in 2012. He had an interest in Northern Soul and attended the Whitby Soul weekend in July with his friend Ian. The first afternoon they went to the Pavilion, bought a drink and went to find somewhere to sit.
“As soon as I saw the person sitting at the table that we were headed towards I knew right away it was Karon, and my heart skipped. I sat beside her and we started chatting. We talked all weekend and had a great time. Since then we have been dating and on Valentine’s Day 2013, I proposed and Karon said yes.” said Neil.
Neil was wounded in Afghanistan in 2006 and lives on a medical pension, Karon is registered disabled due to problems with her back. They are not rich but are very happy and as Karon has never been married it is a dream of hers to have a nice wedding. This prize would be an ideal way to seal their special love story.
