Following their highly successful visit in 2013 The Pearl of Africa returns to the North East this month. This exciting touring choir is made up of 18 energetic young people aged 10 to 18 from Uganda who perform concerts and run workshops to help raise awareness and much needed funds to sustain and improve the standard of education, healthcare and living conditions in their schools.
The Choir is visiting St John’s School on Thursday 25 September when they will be giving short presentations and running lively workshops in African song, dance, drumming and crafts.
In the evening at 7pm they will be giving a public concert, featuring some of the young people they have worked with earlier in the day. Admission is free but donations on the night are welcome. Please order your tickets in advance from St John’s School, either in person or on 01388-603246. There will be an opportunity to purchase traditional African hand-crafted products as well as refreshments.
Don’t miss this performance by an internationally acclaimed group who promise to entertain you with a programme packed full of fun, vocals, drumming and dance!
