On Monday 12th August Oasis Dental Practice in Bishop Auckland visited the children at Woodham Burn out of School Club. The dentist brought an assortment of educational resources to help teach the children how to look after their teeth and how to brush them correctly. After a short talk the children used ‘disclosing tablets’ to see how clean their teeth really were! They were then given their own tooth brush and tooth paste and practiced cleaning their teeth.
The children took part in a healthy food game with Yas. The pictures of the food with lots of sugar that is bad for your teeth stuck to the tooth, the healthy/good foods fell off.
The children also had the opportunity to mix dental clay; one of the children had an impression made of their teeth.
A huge thank you to Jamie (Oasis dentist), Claire (dental nurse) and Yas (dental nurse) for their time given to the children, putting each and everyone of them at ease and making the dentist great fun.
A big thank you for the goody bags the children received which were full of treats including a tooth brush tooth paste, cleaning your teeth chart, stickers, gloves and a dentist mask to take home.
