Earlier this term Aycliffe Village Primary School officially opened their first bike rack. Rio Floreza, Bike-It officer performed the opening ceremony.
Since Rio has been working with the children there has been an increase in scooters and bikes brought to school by children, so the racks were installed to store the children’s bikes and scooters.
A number of organsations helped to fund the racks including Sustrans, Durham County Council and Handcrafted.
Before Rio cut the ribbon he gave a speech thanking those who helped with funding and encouraging the children to keep up the good work they were doing on rising to the challenge of coming to school in a healthy manner!
The school also hopes that this initiative will cut down on pollution and congestion outside the school.
