Great Aycliffe Village Hall Association are delighted with the grant from Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership (GAMP) which has enabled the purchase of much needed equipment and resources.
The Village Hall Association secured funding from Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership (GAMP) via the Neighbourhood Budget allocations of County Councillor Sarah Iveson and former County Councillor Jed Hillary.
With the funding, the Village Hall have been able to purchase new equipment and restore the wood floor in the main hall to its original state.
Keith Johnson, Chairman for Aycliffe Village Hall Association, said: “The new equipment will replace items that have been damaged through extensive use over the years, and now pose a health and safety risk. The restoration of the floor in the main hall negates the need for us to regularly borrow the floor cleaning machine and equipment from the local school.”
Great Aycliffe Village Hall has provided a centre for the community for over 100 years, firstly as a school and then since 1970 as a community centre. It is hoped the funding used to further improve the building will encourage more people to use the Village Hall.
