Vane Road receiving gold medals web
On Friday 26th April, Vane Road Primary School attended a basketball competition at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre.  Mike and Brad (two coaches from Durham Wildcats) were there to help referee and to give the young players advice.  All the schools competing had two teams, A and B.

First, everybody did a warm up which was led by the two Wildcats.  It involved lots of stretches.  After that, the matches began.  As there were only 8 children playing at one time, two matches were played at once.

Vane Road and Rosa Street were in the final.  The game ended in a draw, so they started again and the first team to score a basket was Vane Road!  They had won!

Overall, Sugar Hill won a bronze medal, Rosa Street won a silver medal and Vane Road received gold.  The whole competition was great fun.
