On Thursday 21st November, some of our Year 6 pupils from Vane Road Primary School became astronauts for a day, which included an overnight ‘camp-out’ in the school hall.
They took part in various exciting space-themed experiments and activities – the highlights being, creating their own filters to filter ‘astronaut wee’, completing a vigorous astronaut fitness training plan and star-gazing through telescopes and binoculars. The children ended the night creating constellations on the walls of their tents, using the projectors they had made, which was a lovely sight.
The children were up bright and early to begin the next day with a huge breakfast fit for any astronaut, right before they completed their last set of activities before the end of camp. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience, highlighting the opportunities they had to bond closer to one another as friends, as well as enhance their love for science and space.
