We were absolutely delighted that we were able to hold our Lumiere event again this year. It is our bi-annual celebration based on the infamous Durham Lumiere. All children in school are involved in making installations which are illuminated. Parents and carers were invited to view the amazing work. The projects are based on many different curriculum areas. This year projects included work on the themes of Pirates, Captain Cook’s ship Endeavour, trains, rivers, volcanoes, and Vikings. Woodham Academy also contributed to our event this year by sharing drawings from each department of inspirational people, also an amazing poem written by one of their English Teachers.
The children were greeted by a stilt walking robot covered in lights and joined in using their own flashing lights and glow sticks which were available to purchase. Everyone kept warm during the cold evening with hot chocolate and delicious cookies, baked by our school cook. The finale to the evening was a spectacular fire dancer. The atmosphere around school was incredible, it felt so special to be able to come together once again and celebrate our wonderful school and children.
A big thank you to everyone involved for helping to organise this wonderful event. There are more photos to view on
