UTC South Durham held their very first Business Awards Dinner last week to mark dedication and hard work from industry partners and UTC students. The Business Dinner, held at Hardwick Hall in Sedgefield, was attended by almost 150 people and included over 70 key business leaders from the region.
The event, planned and organised by Year 11 students at UTC with support from school staff and regional businesses.
Catherine Purvis –Mawson, Vice Principal at UTC South Durham said, “The focus of the event was to celebrate the young people that we have at UTC and the important links that they have made with the local and regional business community in their time here. We are so proud of what we have managed to achieve in our three years since opening and this event was definitely a highlight.
“The students organised and project managed the whole event, highlighting the businesses that had an impact on their educational experience, voting and presenting awards for their contribution. It really was a fantastic evening, having so many people in the room that support UTC and our STEM education focus was incredible. These businesses really are helping us to develop and shape the industry leaders of the future. Thank you all for your wonderful support. We can’t wait to do next years!”
