Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club’s 1st team team sponsored by Franks The Flooring Store were disappointingly defeated at home by Yarm 1st team by six wickets in the 2nd division of the NYSD. Electing to bat first, Aycliffe struggled to get any momentum in their innings and were bowled out for a very under par 109 after just 34 overs. Chris Palmer top scored with a fluent 36 and Darryn Bancroft and Colin Myers also batted well with 17 runs and 16 runs respectively. In reply Yarm reached their victory target in the 39th over despite some good bowling from fast bowlers Matty Atkinson, Michael Howe and Danny Craggs who shared the four wickets that were taken by Aycliffe.
Aycliffe’s young 2nd team were well beaten at the sea-side by an experienced Seaton Carew team by ten wickets in the NYSD 3rd division. Asked to bat first Aycliffe were dismissed for just 70 after 34 overs with only Tony Travis (16 runs), James Skerrett (11 runs) and Patrick Howe (11 not out) reaching double figures. In reply, the home side romped to victory in the 19th over to further enhance their genuine promotion prospects.
The under 18’s lost away at Evenwood by 56 runs, but there were good performances from 13 year old Adam Lamb who took 3 for 18 from his 4 overs and captain Tom Wickins, who top scored with a battling 37 including 5 boundaries and a huge six.
The clubs u13’s team (photo attached) had a record breaking 105 run victory away at Darlington RA in the NYACC. Captain Dylan Tribley had an outstanding game for Aycliffe taking 4 wickets for 12 runs and he also top scored with 22 runs. Dominic Hindmarch bowled superby taking 4 wickets for just 4 runs, incuding a hat-trick and Nathan Parry also deserves credit for scoring an unbeaten 12 runs. In their following game, the under 13’s gave highly fancied Barnard Castle a very tough match and eventually lost by just 11 runs despite an outstanding innings from Adam Lamb who top scored with 30 runs, including two huge sixes.
