The U7’s travelled to Heighington to play in an end of season tournament. We played 3 group games where we lost 1, drew 1 and won one, playing some extremely good passing football in each of the games and unlucky to lose one of the group games.
We played Heighington in the semi-final which was a very tight game with chances falling to both teams. Heighington made the breakthrough to go 1-0 up before half time. Aycliffe started brightly in the second half and soon equalised through Rhys Galloway.
The game ended 1-1 and went to extra time. Both teams had lots of chances but no one could find the breakthrough. Full time and extra time finished 1-1 so it was going to penalties. We ended up losing on and it was a cruel way to go out after playing some excellent football in the tournament.
All 10 players played excellent football and we managed to finish 3rd in the tournament, losing out to eventual winners Heighington. As this was our first tournament all the players played great football with smiles on their faces. A special mention to Niall Armstrong who won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ even though he is a year younger than the rest of the team.  Well done Jack, Abi, Jack and Damian.
