Children & young people (CYP) with Type 1 Diabetes from North East & North Cumbria have developed and released their first podcast about life with Type 1 for the diabetes community and beyond. (https://open.spotify.com/show/1NUSAfOmyFnmjvAO7zKSQL?si=5f51ed81674c4bca) This is the first podcast of it’s kind from a project that works with CYP with T1 and their families to improve local diabetes services and empower families to manage their condition well.
When CYP researched podcasts there were none from CYP living with Type 1 Diabetes so we believe this is the first of its kind. Darcey, aged 11, said “Doing the podcasts was a great experience, our hard work and planning paid off. I hope it helps people understand the highs and lows of diabetes.” Chloe Dickinson, Project Manager, says “At Investing in Children children and young people are at the heart of everything we do. Children and young people from the project said that they would like a platform to talk about their life with diabetes and for others to listen and perhaps relate or learn from their experiences. This has come to life in the form of the ‘Highs and Lows of Type 1 Diabetes’ which has just been released on Spotify, the group have been involved in everything from the recording, interviewing, naming the podcast and artwork. Some of the children who are involved are as young as 10 years old and we are so proud of what they have achieved.”
