The George and Dragon in Heighington and Steve Metcalfe (manager) have been recognised as the Country Pub of the Season by The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA)
Karen Mitchelson, owner of the business said “it was nice for Steve to be rewarded like this as there is a lot of effort put into our real ale”. The pub has also been given full marks in its cask marque assessment for the second year running.
Both of these awards will help draw a crowd for the pubs second annual Beer Festival next month.
Mr Metcalfe said “We decided to host it again after the huge success last year which we ran during the Royal Wedding celebrations.
We will have 20 real ales on offer and live music all weekend. We are hoping for another really big turn out”.
The Beer Festival will run over the Bank Holiday beginning Friday 24th May, with Live Music on Saturday and Monday.
