Public Invited to PACT Meetings
Dear Sir,
Members of the public are concerned with the traffic congestion at Simpasture Shops especially on Fridays between the hours of 11:00 – 14:00. This has been highlighted at recent PACT (Police/Partners and Communities Together) Meetings and the residents who attend these meetings have placed this as a policing priority in this location.
Meetings are held every six weeks at Simpasture Court Coffee Lounge and up-dates are provided to residents attending. Members of Newton Aycliffe Neighbourhood Police teams have patrolled the area at the hot spot times when possible and appropriate action has been taken regarding any offending vehicles.
Officers have also attended the area with local Councillors, rep-resentatives from Durham County Council Highways Department and Fire Service officers where various possibilities have been discussed ranging from extra parking bays to additional signage.
We are also working with local shopkeepers who are co-operating fully with the police and have placed posters in their shops highlighting the parking problems to their customers.
The results of these meetings and any police action are always reported back to members of the public who attend PACT meetings.
We would always encourage and welcome anyone with concerns to attend PACT meetings to work in partnership with Police and other agencies to find a long term solution to this problem.
The next Simpasture proposed PACT Meetings are Tuesday 30th April and Tuesday 18th June 2013 all at 6.30pm.PC1452 Thompson
