Ross Turnbull, a former player with Newton Aycliffe Youth Football Club, and now at premier league side Chelsea, nominated the football club to receive a strip through the Professional Footballers Kit Scheme.
The scheme was launched at the end of 2011 when all Professional footballers contributed to a fund to provide strips for grassroots football. Each footballer was invited to nominate their chosen junior club to benefit from the scheme.
The under 11 girls team was chosen and has Ross’ name proudly displayed on the sleeve.
The girls play in the Russel Foster Youth League and made a winning start wearing their new strip. The girls are very grateful for this donation and sent a big thank you to Ross.
The girls section of the football club is growing every season with 3 age groups competing every Saturday. We are now opening a girls development section and are offering coaching to Year 4 & 5 girls to prepare for a new team to start competitive football in March 2013 at the under 10 age group.
