Aycliffe Fell Walking Club enjoyed another snowy day out on Saturday 23rd February; this time the walk area was beautiful Upper Teesdale.
Various routes were on offer and most club members chose to undertake the walk that started from Langdon Beck, visiting Cow Green Reservoir and Cauldron Snout on their way to Holwick. The group started the day with coffee and hot bacon butties in Langdon Beck Hotel before setting off.
It snowed steadily all day but all were well prepared and really enjoyed the conditions as they followed the infant Tees down beside the waterfall, then past Widdybank Farm and High Force (England’s highest waterfall) before finishing with hot soup, chip butties and real ale at the Strathmore Arms in Holwick, where the hired luxury coach was waiting to transport them back to Aycliffe and Darlington.
If you would like to join us on a future walk (we hold monthly walks throughout the year) and would like more information about our club, “probably the best fell walking club in the region”, why not visit our website www.afwc.org.uk or give us a call direct on 01325 488225
