Great Aycliffe Town Council would like to thank 102 Battalion REME for their assistance in removing a burnt out car on Horndale playing fields.
The car, which had been burnt out after becoming bogged down on the soft muddy surface was proving difficult to recover using standard recovery techniques and was becoming a potentially sharp and dangerous gathering point for local youths.
For this reason the Council were keen to get the vehicle moved to safety at the earliest opportunity. The 102 Battalion REME offered to assist their local community by removing the vehicle using their long winches and cranes as part of a training exercise.
The car was removed in a very professional manner without causing any more significant damage to the field.
Thank you to the men of 102 Battalion REME who organised the recovery on behalf of Great Aycliffe Town Council.
