The Fun the Park season got off to a fantastic family-orientated start on Tuesday 30th July with an extended event in the Town Park.
The Mayor of Great Aycliffe, Barbara Clare ‘kicked’ things off with the starting whistle for an Under 8’s 5-a-side competition.
There was a great range of activities for everyone to enjoy with a scooter competition for the Under 18’s, the usual fun in the park activities and extra traditional family games provided by Aycliffe Youth Council.
The Youth Centre Sports Hall hosted a number of partner organisations giving promotional items and advice.
With over a 1000 people attending the event, it was a huge success and enjoyed by everyone with many families making a day of it. Aycliffe Youth Council and the Town Council would like to thank all our partners who attended the event and assisted with promotional items and support.
Car owners are reminded that the raised area on the road between the Town Park and Tesco needs to be kept clear to allow emergency vehicles to gain entry to the park should there be an emergency, not only for events but for normal park usage.
Although the Police had placed traffic cones here for the event on Tuesday some inconsiderate person moved them so they could park right outside the Town Park gates.
