Barry Taylor the Postmaster has indicated he will not be renewing his leases when the time comes for the demolition of his end of the Town Centre.
Barry intends to retire, giving up the Postmaster’s position and also closing his Newsagency shop next door.
Barry told Newton News he was not prepared at his age to take on a new lease, but would remain until the demolition notice for his shops was received.
Meanwhile he assumes the Post Office will be appointing a replacement Postmaster to follow his retirement, but does not expect that to hapen until later this year.
Barry said he was grateful for the support he has received from regular customers over many years in the town centre.
