Two members of the team at Defoe Court Care Home have won awards at the Great British Care Awards North East. Stacey Nattrass, Assistant Chef and Debbie Allen, Deputy Manager, scooped the awards for Ancillary Worker of the Year and Nurse of the Year respectively.
The Ancillary Worker Award recognises excellent person centred service, demonstrating dignity and respect through ancillary services. The Nurse of the Year award acknowledges the important role that nurses have in promoting the emotional, physical, psychological and social health of the people they support.
Stacey is from the area, and has worked at Defoe Court since she left school in 2011, when she started as a Domestic Assistant. Since then, Stacey has progressed to her current role of Assistant Chef. Debbie is also from the area, and joined Defoe Court in September 2014 when she held the position of Clinical Lead. Debbie now holds the position of Deputy Manager, taking a lead role in the everyday management of the home.
The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional award ceremonies to celebrate excellence across the care sector. The North East regional awards were presented by popular entertainer Steve Walls, at the Hilton Newcastle in Gateshead, Newcastle Upon Tyne.
On Tuesday 24th November HC-One Regional Managing Director Glen Mason held a presentation for Debbie and Stacey in front of other Residents, relatives and members of the local community.
HC-One is also celebrating achieving a 9.4 average rating on the sector’s leading care home comparison website carehome.co.uk. The high rating puts HC-One homes into the very best company in the care home sector.
HC-One Defoe Court Chef, Stacey Nattrass, said: “I am over the moon to have received this award. All of the staff at Defoe Court work hard day in day out to provide the kindest care to our Residents, so this award is for them.”
HC-One Defoe Court Nurse, Debbie Allen, said: “I am shocked and delighted to have received this award at the Great British Care Awards North East. It was a complete surprise but it is great to know that the hard work of HC-One staff is being acknowledged.”
HC-One Regional Manager, Glen Mason said: “I am incredibly proud of Stacey and Debbie and the awards are so well deserved, I am delighted that their hard work has been recognised. The awards demonstrate how HC-One provide the kindest care.”
