Newton Aycliffe Youth FC have been awarded the County Durham FA Charter Standard Club of the Year 2018. The award recognised the work the club has done in 3 key areas since they were last given this award in 2014

Coaching :- As part of the FA Mentor programme the club were allocated a professional coach to help and support the coaches within the club. At the end of the 3 year programme the club identified it’s own lead mentor, Jonathan Gallagher, who is supported by another 3 mentors within the club. Jonathan holds regular CPD events for the coaches and over views training sessions given advise and help to our existing volunteers

Progressive :- We are a leading club in Durham, supporting the FA National Initiative for developing and growing female football. The hugely successful Wildcats Girls development Programme has been running for 2 years in Newton Aycliffe resulting in an increase to 6 girl’s teams and a Women’s team, more than doubling the number of females participating in regular football.

Impact on the Local Community:- Our coaches regularly hold after school clubs in the primary schools in the local areas. Boys and girls attend a 4 week introduction to football and many then join the club , taking up the game for the first time. Our support for the Aycliffe festival was also recognised , bringing football to the heart of the community. The recently purchased De fib machine will be positioned at the Oakleaf for our match and training days, but will also be available for the wider community using the recreation area.

This award is for everyone associated with the club who put in many hours of voluntary work for the children of Newton Aycliffe. The club now go forward to the National awards, with the result in early August.
