Dear Sir,
My name is Tony Stubbs, a Conservative Party candidate standing for the Aycliffe North and Middridge division in the Durham County Local Elections.
I’m an Industrial Water Treatment Consultant, working for a Global Water Technologies company. I was born and raised in County Durham and I am passionate about the area I live in and the wider North East.
A lot has been said recently about the fact that I live in Sedgefield, and not in the division that I want to represent. In reality it takes me the same time to get to Woodham as it it does for someone to get from Middridge to the town centre! We all have the same Member of Parliament, we all pay Council Tax to the same County Council and, as a full time working person with a family, I feel I am very representative of the majority of people I am volunteering to represent.
I have been an active volunteer in my community for many years. I was a school governor at a local primary school, I coached and managed grassroots football teams for over 15 years, I have been a treasurer of a local football club and I am currently a volunteer board member of Northern League club, Durham City AFC.
I have the passion and the ability to become a champion for youth services in the area.
The recent pandemic and lockdowns have highlighted some local issues such as littering and anti-social behaviour, however, and more importantly, it has highlighted the importance of a strong local community and local services.
Becoming a Councillor will allow me, with the help of the local community, to develop solutions to fix the issues and further improve the local services.
Newton Aycliffe is the second largest town in the County, and I will campaign for greater investment in its town centre.
I will work hard with fellow Councillors, the local MP and the local community to enable continuation of the Government levelling up agenda for the benefit of all.
Please vote for me and the other Conservative candidates on 6th May.
Many thanks
Tony Stubbs
