Please could you mention in Newton News that Newton Aycliffe Railway Station now has a ticket machine in operation.
I used it to travel to Newcastle last Thursday thinking I could still pay on the train but there is a sign above the machine saying not to board the train without obtaining a ticket first or you could be fined.
There were only 5 of us and none of us had realised we needed to purchase tickets, luckily we all arrived there early enough and had time to use the machine.
I think it could be busy at peak times, so best get there in time to buy or collect tickets before boarding the train.
