This last few days this rescue has been phenomenally busy with admissions, I have never experienced this kind of activity before, thankfully, all are responding to treatments and a lot of them will be overwintered, babies, lots of them from all areas. Let’s welcome, Lilibet, Queenie, Billie, Holly, Charlotte, Arwen, Gypsy and finally Lily. All these except Holly, she is from Durham and baby hog Charlotte is from Ingleby Barwick. This has been what it’s like and that’s just since Thursday, it seems all rescues are either closed or full but I am very pleased to be able to accommodate them and keep my standards high.
Of course all this comes at a cost, whilst I have food and medical supplies in they don’t last forever so fundraising is very important and whilst I am a small rescue I am too small to be a registered charity, money raised is purely for these beautiful little souls.
If anyone out there wants to help please drop me an email, the address is below, I have eight small hoggies that will be here till spring.
Many thanks to June and Valerie, they are very clever ladies who are busy making some lovely goods for our fundraising events, Peter and Teri who are taking good care of Harry, Teri is also a very clever lady who carves glass and wood etc., Grannies Choice has some of her creations so please take a look. Denise always helps me, and Marlene for her tombola, we will be running a raffle and tombola from this Saturday onwards, all good gift ideas for Christmas. Hopefully we will be at the Scout Hut on the 1st October from 1pm so come and see us.
On a more serious note Gypsy, who is a female juvenile hedgehog, has come into rescue because she was trapped in a badminton net, she has sustained injuries but she is going to be ok, I will be making sure she is kept warm and comfy for as long as she is here. Please make sure that any sports netting is lifted off the ground, a hedgehog won’t be able to see it. Also rat poison is something that kills our hedgehogs, please refrain from using poisons.
Tip of the Week: Please ring The British Hedgehog Preservation Society on 01584 890801 if you need assistance, information or advice. My email address is: pricklyhaven@yahoo.com
