It’s been busy, admitting and releasing our prickly friends, but as the nights draw in I have to make sure all our releases are bigger, 650 grams at the moment. I am in the process of drawing our raffle prizes but, this time, I am asking people to choose their prize, everyone, hopefully is happy with this but I haven’t finished yet.
I would like to thank the following people for their help, if it wasn’t for them this rescue could not run the way it does, Angela of Grange Vets who always provides me with antibiotics etc etc, Denise, Peter and Teri, who take care of hoggies for me prior to release which means I am available to admit critically ill hedgehogs. Not forgetting Valerie and June, they have been working hard too. Funding is key to running this rescue, being a rehabber is the most difficult thing I have ever done but the fundraising is also tough, especially when you have very poorly hogs or hoglets to care for so if anyone wants to make a donation, however small, I would be very grateful, please drop me an email, the address is below.
All hoggies here are doing well, they are all too small to be released, poor Lucy has a nasty intestinal infection which has killed many hogs if not caught in time, I am working hard to save her. Also admitted today, Lucky, injured by magpies and an abscess on his underbelly, he needs antibiotics which he has started.
To close, I am fortunate to have a very small hoglet here, she is called Heather, (pictured) regrettably her sister died shortly after they got here, I was heartbroken of course, but Heather is doing very well, 127g on arrival, 180 tonight, she will be here for a bit yet.
Tip of The Week: Please provide our hedgehogs with a way to gain access to your gardens, all you need is to cut a circle the size of a CD on the bottom of your fences, they need all the help they can get, these poor souls are seriously up against it out there.
