Very busy, still admitting more hedgehogs, and what’s worrying is the amount of babies and very small ones coming in to rescue because they are too small for hibernation.

Myself, Viv and our new hoggie mum, Tara, will keep them indoors till the spring. As you can probably guess the more we get the less we can take in, we have about 16 babies that can’t be released, please if you see a hedgehog that you think is too small to be out, get advice from either a vet, BHPS or the hedgehog street app. These lovely mammals are seriously up against various threats all year round but the winter months are very harsh, whatever you can do to help them would be appreciated.

Thank you to June and Will again for donations from the sale of Covid-19 masks and doggy bandanas; Lorraine Elliott for kindly donating a cage, all finders for keeping these little chaps safe till we can intervene and our wonderful supportive vets close by for their continued support.

Can I remind people that bonfire night and fireworks are killers for hedgehogs and other wildlife, parliament will meet and decide whether to ban fireworks on Monday 2nd November.

Hopefully, we will be out and about fundraising very soon, we will still need to feed, care and medicate our little hogs for the coming months, Facebook will have all the key dates and places.

Weekly Tip: Please ring the British Hedgehog Preservation Society for help and advice on 01584 890801, they can also reach me if you specifically need our hedgehog rescue.
